“Then a little joyful light came when I saw a group of girls training together in the evening. Their training looked so enjoyable and didn’t feel like suffering at all. The coach (who I found out to be Ro later on) was professional and took care of everyone in the group. They talked, they joked, they had fun and they were so happy when they trained together.
How could it be possible?
I got curious about the group, I wanted to get involved, I wanted to change, I wanted something different for my miserable situation… And that’s how I got into BBB.
Since I started with BBB, my life completely turned into a new miracle chapter:
I found out how strong and capable my body is.
I asked BBB coaches lots of questions and learnt a lot from them and from other BBB girls. I learnt how to love and appreciate myself, my body and be grateful about everything that I have in my life. I no longer wait until Sunday to eat that ‘cheat meal’ and feel guilty about it. I learnt how to enjoy every present moment and every single experience that happens in my life. I learnt how to stay calm, manage my stress, build up better relationship with my loved ones.
I’m much more confident with my own skin and to just be me, be myself.
I’m now the happiest and healthiest version of myself than ever before.
And BBB…
We’re all just a bunch of strangers who come together to train in the same sessions, but we truly care about each other. We support, we listen, we share our stories and our struggles, we help and we lift each other up.”
Barbell Babes Brigade is a community of females focused on allowing our women to unleash their true capabilities both inside and outside the gym. We are a diverse, crazy, colourful family of strong women who come together every week to share our love of lifting.
What begins as a relationship forged around strength training flourishes into a life, a community that is rich with experiences and relationships.
We come from a day sitting at our desk in the office. Tired and stiff.
We come from a lecture at university, mentally fried with tense shoulders.
We come from a day of running around with our little ones. Seeking that hour out for ourselves.
We come from an overnight shift at the hospital. Caring for the injured and helpless.
We come from the board meeting. Absolutely exhausted and brain dead.
We come to HQ to move our bodies and unleash our strength.
We come to HQ to zone out, leave our day at the door and feel our bodies move.
We come to HQ to share our love of lifting with other like minded women.
We come to HQ to strip off our top and train in our crop top.
We come to HQ to let go of our inhibitions and feel free.
We come to HQ to find our own version of strong.
We come to HQ to feel alive and appreciate our bodies.
We come to HQ to be whoever the hell we want to be.
To live our lives, on our terms.
Unapologetically me.
What our babes love most are the feelings of empowerment, support and constant education that allows them to continually progress in overall performance.
HQ is an environment for growth. In our strength. In our physical abilities and in our mental capacity to tackle the challenges of life. It is an environment where many challenges are forged and uncovered. These challenges can be confronting and scary. They are not always for everyone. These challenges are for the women who are ready to step up and step into the unknown. For the women that knows she is truly capable of so much more. She might not know how but thats ok.
She knows she has a triple digit squat in her.
She knows she works her ass off and is ready for that promotion.
She knows she deserves more respect in her relationships.
She knows she can be truly confident in her skin one day.
She might not know how to get there but she believes the possibilities are there and she wants to tackle them. Despite how terrifying they seem.
Just like the strength we create when we lift each rep in each session. The principles of strength training translate into other areas of our lives. To get stronger, we must complete the reps. We must take the time and employ the patience to lift every rep and complete every set.
The Barbell Babes Brigade 4-step “GROW” method has been used for over five years with the amazing ladies inside our tribe.
It is our duty as women of strength to empower and educate of our women to continue the journey to confidence and independence.
If we can do it then so can you.
