Prue, Sam and Karla hit the platform on Sunday and they all crushed their hardest lift and moved through some big barriers!
Sunday the 1st we had Karla and Sam hitting the platform for the second time and Prue stepping back in for her 5th time.

Prue
5 months ago we had to pull Prue from Nationals. After a pec injury that
wasn’t holding up, we made the tough decision to drop out. This was as
devastating to any lifter as you might imagine. We had been working
towards this goal for the better part of two years. After a good few
months of living in a funk, we decided to give it another crack.
The deadlift had been taunting Prue for awhile now. She had hit 155kg in
the previous three comps but could not get the elusive 160kg. She had
tried multiple times and failed just as many.
Throughout this prep, Prue had hit multiple volume PB’s. She was the
strongest she had ever been since she started with BBB in 2016. Come
comp day, we were on. We had never seen Prue as fired up as she was on
the day. For those of you that know Prue, you’ll know that she is more
of a chilled out lifter who likes to listen to Ed Sheeran and a bit of S
Club 7 in training. On Sunday, we saw a new determined fire emerge that
was powerful to see. After failing her first deadlift attempt on a
technical fault, we were so damn ready and we took her second attempt
up, ready to give, to take what was ours, that 160kg deadlift!
She walked up to the bar and there was no way she wasn’t going to let this one go!
Prue came away hitting 2 of her 3 goals for the day.
Prue’s best lifts:
8/9 lifts
Squat 155kg +5kg comp PB
Bench 68kg equal PB
Deadlift 160kg +4kg comp PB

Karla
She looked at the barbell and said “I will kill you”.
This is what was going through Karla’s head when she approached her
third squat. Hitting a 5kg PB and taking out a 92kg squat, Karla was on!
Her goal prior to comp was to hit 87kg and she already smashed it in
training. Hitting this unexpected number and being around an electric
environment saw Karla absolutely thrive.
Bench moved through 3/3 and then came deadlifts. Much like for Prue,
this lift for Karla had its ups and downs. One week it moved well,
another week it stuck to the ground. Karla also missed her first
deadlift, not waiting at the top before the [judge’s] down signal.
Given that this was only Karla’s second comp we kept her at the same weight of 100kg and she hit it with no issues.
It was fast!
Karla wanted to hit 107kg but we knew that she could put up a fight.
We put her up to 110kg, gave her a number of words and once again she
was ready to “kill it”. You could literally see her heart beating out of
her chest, her nerves were noticeable and her focus was like a devil
stare.
She was on and the barbell didn’t stand a chance!
This lift secured her a 5kg PB and the extra kg’s to increase her grading to an A grade athlete!
Karla’s best lifts:
8/9 lifts
Squat 92kg +10kg comp PB
Bench 53kg +6kg comp PB
Deadlift 110kg +8kg comp PB

Sam
Sam’s first comp experience was bittersweet. After missing her first squat back in February she wanted another go.
Super clear expectations were set for the day which put Sam in a really
great position to enjoy the day and soak up the experience.
We all breathed a sigh of relief when her first squat was an absolute beaut!
Sam also loooooves to bench! Hitting a big PB on her third bench put her
in a great position to give her hardest lift a good crack.
Sam has a tendency to stay too high over the bar in her deadlifts. When
nerves enter, her sequence can get thrown off. Keeping her in the
present moment, connected to her body and connected to the experience
through smiles, laughter and a bit of dancing meant that Sam could think
clearer and she executed her lift with grace!
Sam’s second comp was such an enjoyable experience. It takes so much
grit and determination to show up and do it again when it originally
didn’t go to plan.
Sam’s best lifts:
8/9 lifts
Squat 105kg +5kg comp PB
Bench 63kg +3kg comp PB Deadlift 125kg +5kg comp PB

As a team, this was such a great day for all!
All three of the girls worked so well together and bounced off each others energy!
Well done ladies.
Deadlifts were ours!
