Put your hand up if you are feeling a bit sore all over constantly 🙋
You might be lifting far less load than what you’ve done before but still feel so tight overall and don’t understand why.
You might be doing your mobility work, sleeping and eating pretty well but still don’t know what’s up…
If you are nodding your head, it ain’t just you babe.
There’s a few of us.
With lifestyle stressors still very present for so many of us, they take a toll on our bodies.
We can scrunch up our shoulders and hold tension in our neck.
We can feel wound up all day and our muscles feel sore to touch.
We can feel our breath shorten and our traps tight.
So what can we do?
- Bring awareness throughout the day
Check in with yourself a few times throughout the day to understand how you feel and what you might need.
Tired? Do you need to drink some more water and grab some food?
Tight neck? Do you need to get away from the screen for 5 minutes?
- Mindfulness in the morning
“I’m so tired” before our feet have even hit the ground. Set the scene for your day. Bring a few minutes of centre to determine how you want to run your day. What do you get to look forward to today? What opportunities lie in front? What will you do today to have a great day?
- Deep breathing before bed
Much like your 90/90 hip lift, move into your breathing drills to help you relax and breathe deeply before you go to bed. Allow your body to loosen and unwind from the tight little bundle.
- Reassess your training frequency
Talk to your coach and have a look at your frequency. It may be a better idea to replace a strength session with a walk or an active recovery session.
