Last week we had three of our ladies hit the platform for the first comp of 2019.
The day before they were ready to go we asked them the following:
Why do you like Powerlifting?
“Because it is fun and satisfying. It makes me feel good and I love to see progress in myself (whether that is strength/mental/body/gains etc) it makes me feel good!”
“I like it because it’s a way to express myself internally. To be more than just a body. It doesn’t matter what or who I am.”
“I like that it makes me feel strong.
I like that it gives me goals.
I like that it’s a safe and fun hobby.
I like the thrill of grinding a big lift and going oh yeah I just lifted that.
I like the look on people’s face when I tell them I can squat over 140kg.
We were all sorts of emotions coming into this weekend. Excited, anxious and lots and lots of nerves.
It was a big one for all three:
Bek hitting the platform for the first time.
Bro coming back after a 12 month hiatus from competition.
Prue dusting off her lucky MnM squat socks to suit up.

With first timer Bek Bek bouncing with energy eager to jump into her first experience this bought a beautiful energy backstage. After a long time away from the platform, both Bro and Prue were hungry to get back into it. With both locking eyes on a 150kg squat, we started the comp with all guns blazing and focus laser sharp.
Coming into bench [press], the recent change in 1kg increment increases made for a refreshing time and offered some nice little opportunities.
With the day heating up, hitting close to 40 degrees, our babes were feeling it. Zooper doopers in hand, ice packs on the back of their necks, frozen bottles of waters down tops, we were all a hot mess.
Deadlifts were feeling very much just that. Dead weight under the humidity backstage. All three came into deadlifts, pulling what energy and strength they could and putting it all in. We had tears, sweat and thankfully no blood!

We had a bunch of babes right there at the front, cheering our ladies on at every lift.
“Go Queen!”
“Get it girl!”
Powerlifting is the most supportive solo sport you will ever find! And that is exactly why we love it so much. There may only be one lifter who steps on the platform, but you better believe that throughout the whole day, our babes are right there with her. Cheering, screaming their lungs out and sending you love & support.
We are all so proud of Bek, Bro and Prue and congratulate them on a great day!
